Breast Medical Oncologist

The MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, integrated with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center-the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Metropolitan Washington DC area, invites applications for a BE/BC medical oncologist with strong clinical and research focus in breast cancer to join our comprehensive NAPBC accredited breast center team.

Successful candidates will be a clinically active member in our multi-disciplinary breast cancer program and provide outstanding teaching to fellows and residents. Candidates should be excellent communicators and clinicians, have good leadership qualities and a strong interest in supporting fellow/resident/medical student education. Ideally, candidates with a few years of clinical experience post-fellowship are desired, but new fellowship graduates will also be considered.

Responsibilities include overseeing the care of patients with breast cancer, fostering and directing new clinical trials that bring Lombardi science to clinical applications for breast cancer, mentoring junior faculty, as well as medical student and house staff education in an ACGME- accredited fellowship program with an appointment at the Associateappropriate academiclevel.

The Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in the District of Columbia and provides a robust infrastructure for clinical trials and translational research facilities. This position involves working at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, a 950-bed acute care academic medical center located in midtown Washington, D.C. The Hematology-Oncology division at this location includes 14 full-time physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, and the attending physician staff in the Department of Medicine includes >100 full-time teaching faculty. The breast cancer program is supported by multi-disciplinary teams from medical oncology, breast surgical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, pathology, radiology, genetics, clinical nutrition, research staff, clinical social workers, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators.
