Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking a Department Chair for Biomedical Sciences (BMS) in the School of Medicine. The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) seeks a visionary leader to serve as its next Chair. Will lead the department and work collaboratively with the Dean, faculty, students, and staff to set the strategic vision for the Department's future by fostering innovative research, recruiting and developing faculty, and building partnerships with the community while being supported by the administrative team. Responsibilities The Chair's primary responsibility is administration, including budgeting, personnel mentoring and management, and policy compliance, along with significant research duties and moderate involvement in teaching and service. Extramural grant salary funding at a 25% or greater level is expected of all School of Medicine basic science faculty, and the Chair is expected to be an extramural funding example for all BMS faculty. About the Department BMS is a dynamic and interdisciplinary department committed to excellence in research, education, and service. The Department offers strong PhD and MS graduate programs and is home to the Translational Hearing Center, which advances cutting-edge research into hearing and auditory disorders. BMS faculty research areas also include cancer, aging, hearing and hearing loss, neuroscience, and peptide structure/function, while fostering collaborative research opportunities across the university. Faculty members actively involve Creighton undergraduate, MS, PhD, and MD students in their laboratory research as well as educate graduate and healthcare professional students using innovative teaching methods. Creighton University also houses numerous research core facilities including flow cytometry and cell sorting, advanced microscopy, histology, mass spectrometry, and integrative genomics, as well as an extensive array of shared instrumentation for the research community.
