Job Description Summary:

The Security Assistant conducts personnel security administration, processes clearance applications and provides guidance on individual reporting requirements. This includes utilizing software and applications such as Defense Information Security System (DISS), DSX, and Security Information Management System (SIMS) where accuracy and attention to detail is required. Additional daily functions include reception coverage, badging, executing security briefings and other related items. Assists with highly visible administration to include access control, badging and ensuring security policies.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of Draper's Personnel Security function for employees, contractors and consultants to include security briefings, badging actions and other related tasks.

  • Conduct clearance processing, reviewing SF-86s, updating databases, obtaining fingerprints and Government submittals.

  • Coordinate and maintain the cleared consultant process. Assist in tracking purchase orders, annual refresher briefings, security documentation, performing database management, and processing renewals.

  • Ensure and coordinate day-to-day accuracy to database systems by ensuring proper tracking and data entry. Conduct periodic audits of DISS, SIMS and AssureID to ensure compliance and assist in annual self-inspection tasks for the Personnel Security Team.

  • Assist with the new hire and termination processes to include security briefings, badging and data entry. Maintain and assist with the execution and tracking of security briefings.

  • Provide support to other areas within the Industrial Security functional area, including providing coverage to the Visitor Service Center badge office and the security receptionist as needed

  • Respond promptly, courteously and professionally to Draper personnel and subcontractor requests/inquiries.

  • Creation, maintenance, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for the Personnel Security team.

  • Interface with all levels of personnel, management and Government sponsors to ensure proper controls are in place, and demonstrates the ability to adjust policies, standards, and requirements as necessary.

  • Remain current on all relevant DoD policies and procedures by successfully completing online courses and other training sessions and assist with reviewing current processes to enable the operation to modernize and utilize technological efficiencies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required

  • Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills, be service oriented with the ability to work under pressure, be a self-starter, and work well with all levels of management and staff

  • Organized, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of business software such as DSX, DISS/NBIS, SIMs, NISS, and SWFT

  • Working knowledge of government policies such as 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM, SEAD 3, and more

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Security, Criminal Justice, or related field is preferred

Experience

  • One year of relevant experience in industrial security, personnel security, or visitor management is preferred

Additional Job Description:

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Current in scope Secret security clearance is required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
