Position SummaryThe Department of Linguistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Linguistics with a specialization in Phonology to begin in August 2025. This is a full-time position. Applicants must have a PhD in Linguistics or a related field by date of appointment. For best consideration, all application materials must be received by November 30, 2024. We seek candidates whose research orientation is compatible with our commitment to functional, usage-based approaches to linguistic explanation using empirical, data-driven methods. Competitive applicants will have additional expertise in areas that complement the strengths of the Department. A successful candidate will be capable of mentoring students and teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including phonological analysis and usage-based phonology. They will also be able to supervise masters and doctoral students, and contribute to core, required undergraduate and graduate courses.
