Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring an RN to join our LDRP team in women's services. This is a full time, night shift position in Charlottesville, VA.

About the department:

Sentara Martha Jeffersons Women's Health includes L&D, and a 24 bed post-partum mother/baby. Our Level 2 newborn specialty care nursery has a 1 to 1 ratio while our intermediate care babies have a 1 to 3 nursing ratio. Our LDRP unit also offers post operative care for complex GYN and Breast surgical needs. This specialty area has a 100-member team has cross trained to offer best in class healthcare to Charlottesville, VA and surrounding areas.

  • High Patient Satisfaction Score 89%
  • 11 Private Birthing Rooms w/Jacuzzi tubs, 2 Triage Rooms, 1 dedicated Obstetrical OR, and 2 bed OB PACU
  • Newborn Nursery and 7 bed Level II Special Care Nursery
  • 24 private Mother/Baby and Women's Services rooms
  • Lactation Services available 7 days/week

The platform currently has approximately 100 employees across various clinical and support roles. Our RN retention rate is 98%

We boast an NTSV CS rate of 18%, the lowest in the Sentara system and an exclusive breastfeeding rate of 85%, the highest in the Sentara system.

We are growing, with a new Sentara OBGYN practice opened in downtown Charlottesville fall 2023. We are in the process of recruiting additional providers for that practice, to include midwives, and also in the process of transitioning to a pediatric hospitalist model for our nursery services.

  • Interactive Fetal Monitoring Strip Review program
  • Simulation Drills, including Maternal & Neonatal Code, Shoulder Dystocia, & Malignant Hyperthermia
  • Onsite Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) & Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification
  • Perinatal Education Program for nurses new to maternal/child nursing
  • Clinical Ladder Professional Advancement Program
  • Our community maternity programs provide access to a wide array of classes, support groups, and lactation services.

Requirements:

  • RN License- Required

  • 2 years of clinical experience- Preferred in L&D Setting

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited registered nursing program- required

  • BSN preferred

  • NRP within 6 months of hire.

  • BLS within 90 days of hire

  • Labor specific Experience preferred; Post Partum experience preferred

Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty;Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
