Job Description

* Applications are accepted electronically ONLY at www.cu.edu/cu-careers *The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) and its Office of Recruitment & Outreach (ORO) are committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse student body. ORO staff recruit for both undergraduate and graduate programs, certificates, partnerships, and pathways offered by the SEHD. Responding to prospective student inquiries and are the front line in interacting with students during the prospect to application to acceptance pipeline. ORO works with the marketing team to support messaging content and developing communications for prospective students. This position is responsible for implementing recruitment plans and strategies, achieving admissions goals and implementing yield strategies (co-developed with the Director of Recruitment & Outreach). General responsibilities include in-person as well as virtual school visits, parent/student programming, college fairs, information sessions, college fairs, panel discussions, and webinars. In addition, this position will provide direct and proactive outreach to students to provide a personalized experience, including connecting students to financial aid, basic orientation to the college and overall, connecting students with resources, such as referral to Academic Advisors and Success Coaches, supporting registration and perform the necessary data tracking to ensure the success of enrollment management initiatives.


Office of Recruitment & Outreach (ORO) Recruitment and Admissions Navigator
What you will do:

The ORO Recruitment and Admissions Navigator (RAN) position is a full-time position and one of the key personnel for the Office of Recruitment & Outreach. The RAN extends SEHDs transformative agenda to recruit, prepare, and retain diverse "Next Generation" teachers and community advocates. The RAN will be responsible for collaborating with campus and SEHD colleagues to develop and implement high touch recruitment, admissions, orientation, and ensure smooth enrollment for new students. Providing hand-off to academic advisors and success coaches to meet admissions goals set by SEHD leadership with a focus on diverse students from underrepresented populations, high schools, and community college pipelines. To that end, this position will work in a highly coordinated approach with campus staff, SEHD colleagues, high schools and community college partners to nurture positive relationships with prospective students, schools, organizations and develop, implement, and lead a high touch experience for prospective and newly admitted students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Recruitment




  • Collaborate with campus recruitment and admissions and SEHD leadership and staff to design and implement a recruitment and admissions process from inquiry to registration that includes a well-developed process of tracking and supporting students throughout the process.



  • Provides proactive outreach to students regarding various aspects of the enrollment and onboarding process, including, but not limited to, academic program information, pathway information, financial planning (financial aid and scholarships), and career/transfer resources.



  • Tracks student interactions and enrollment steps using the College's customer relationship management (CRM) system.



  • Ensure that all communications to students through the recruitment to enrollment stages are accurate and up to date.



  • Provides initial advising of all preadmissions in undergraduate programs.



  • Provide information and resources to students regarding the FAFSA and financial aid options.



  • Work with central recruiting to develop annual strategic plans for recruitment in each partnership location, as well as high schools and community colleges and university partners.



  • Collaborates with a university-wide recruitment team to provide support during recruitment events such as campus visits/tours and open house events.



  • Develop relationships with local community college advisors and leverage these relationships to enhance the recruitment process and support the process from inquiry to application.




Admissions




  • Develop and implement a communication and support plan that provides high touch support for students who are working through the application and admission processes and provide frequent outreach and support for students throughout the process.



  • Conduct individual and/or group navigation sessions to assess students' needs to convert admitted students to enrolled students.



  • Collaborates with the campus admissions to ensure seamless submission of paperwork/form processing for applied students.



  • Collaborate with university orientation staff to support SEHD student registration for orientation




Post Admission




  • Follows-up to encourage admitted students to accept their offer of admission.



  • Ensures new admits are registered for orientation.



  • Supports students in accessing CU Denver student portal and email, including Duo two-factor authentication.



  • Discusses FAFSA and importance of submitting as early as possible.



  • Discusses how to apply for scholarships.



  • Explains immunization policy and supports compliance.



  • Introduces new students to academic advisor and success coach.



  • Reminds students to submit their final transcripts from high school or higher education institutions.



  • Connect students with Disability Resource Center as appropriate.



  • Supports students in deferral of acceptance, when applicable




This position involves working closely with students where the person may become aware of campus safety issues that may need to be reported as part of CU's commitment to compliance with the Clery Act. The person in this role will receive the related training and be required to submit data once per year to the campus Clery Act team. Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)


  • A bachelor's degree in education, business, public administration, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.



  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.



  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a higher education setting providing direct services to students, and/or admissions counseling/recruitment or education outreach experience.




Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)


  • Higher education recruitment experience.



  • Event planning and presentation experience.



  • Experience with Slate CRM software platform.



  • Experience with student information systems (e.g., Slate, PeopleSoft or Banner).



  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and verbal

  • Knowledge and experience in higher education and student success



  • Familiarity with recruitment, admission, and yield in higher education



  • Strong experience with university systems that support customer relations, application and registration, and student success (Navigate, Slate, SIS)



  • Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead teams toward a shared purpose



  • Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills Experience and success in working with diverse communities and first-generation college students



  • Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines



  • Attention to detail



  • Ability to work independently and contribute as member of team, develop relationships with wide variety of internal and external constituencies




Conditions of Employment


  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.



  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.



  • This position will be required to transport oneself and work materials to and from in-state locations. An individual in this position must be willing and able to meet this requirement at the time of hire.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $57,782 - $58,700.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
