Responsibilities

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds.

Job Summary: Contributes to the provision of quality and appropriate crisis intervention and referral services, schedules and coordinates assessments, processes admissions while ensuring all services are administered within hospital standards and guidelines.

THIS IS A PER DIEM POSITION/NIGHT SHIFT

Essential Duties

  • Provides or coordinates initial assessment and counseling of patients scheduled or walk-in clients; Responds to each person/family in a timely manner with appropriate clinical intervention and judgement; Provides immediate information and emotional support according to need and within departmental and UBC policy
  • Provides additional evaluation/consultation as deemed necessary (i.e. psychiatric assessment)
  • Accepts phone calls; responds timely to phone call messages
  • Ensures a smooth transition of admission process to alleviate anxieties in discussing treatment, financial responsibility, etc.; Follows department and hospital policies and procedures consistently; Provides information and consultations when necessary; re-directs when needed
  • Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient and employee related information
  • Willingly adapts to changes and demonstrates a positive attitude and flexibility in scheduling and in the performance of duties assigned to this position
  • Presents a positive, friendly and helpful attitude profile in daily interactions with patients, staff and visitors Attends all required in-services annually: Fire, disaster, and safety and updates Infection Control and updates Administrative policies and procedures Crisis Intervention and updates CPR

Qualifications

Education: Master's Level Clinician and/or RN Degree

Experience: Two (2) years in the Mental Health field preferably in Intake/Triage/Admissions area
