Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant Professor in School Psychology to join our Psychology team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:

The Department of Psychology at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA) is seeking an Assistant Professor in Psychology for a tenure-track position, specifically to support the School Psychology graduate program. We are looking for candidates who will have a strong commitment to teaching, research, and mentoring students in our School Psychology Ed.S. program and teaching and advising our undergraduate psychology students. Specifically, we are searching for candidates who will teach graduate level school psychology and undergraduate level psychology courses, mentor undergraduate and/or graduate research, as well as have multicultural competence and experience working with diverse populations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in school psychology or a closely related field with eligibility for certification as a school psychologist by September 16, 2024.
  • Experience with teaching both graduate level school psychology and undergraduate level psychology courses that can engage and inspire students from different racial/ethnic and socio-economic groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience to inclusive mentoring of students in undergraduate and/or graduate research and through teaching and/or mentoring activities.
  • Experience applying culturally responsive teaching practices in working with diverse student populations.
  • Possess superior teaching abilities
  • Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities
  • Ability to meet or exceed tenure requirements
  • Teaching, research, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students.

Preferred Qualifications (please address in your cover letter:)

  • Certification and experience as a school psychologist.
  • Background and interest in child and adolescent counseling and/or mental health interventions in the schools.
  • Experience or interest in developing and teaching online courses
  • Experience in curriculum development and improvement
  • Scholarship/creative activities interests
  • Service interests
  • Teaching, research, service, or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students.
  • Demonstrated training in and/or experience in implementing anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion-related materials or pedagogical practices in credit-bearing courses, certificate programs, or professional development type trainings, workshops, or seminars.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Annual Salary: $61,999 - $69,500, based on a full-time nine-month appointment
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Appointment: Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available. Central Washington University is on the quarter system with appointments from mid-September through mid-June.
