The Senior Tax Associate that supports our Corporate Business has responsibility for handling tax compliance and provision activities, primarily focusing on federal, state, and international tax matters. The role will have a specific emphasis on state and local tax (SALT) and sales and use tax, requiring in-depth knowledge and expertise in these areas. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting while adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Key Job Responsibilities:



  • Tax Compliance: Assist in preparation of tax compliance processes for federal, state, and international tax requirements. This includes preparing and reviewing tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information, and filing tax forms in a timely manner.
  • Tax Provision: Assist with the preparation and review of tax provision calculations, including deferred taxes and tax accruals. Analyze financial data, reconcile tax accounts, and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • State and Local Tax (SALT): Serve as a subject matter expert on SALT matters, including income tax, franchise tax, property tax, and sales and use tax. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess their impact on the company's tax obligations. Develop strategies to optimize SALT planning and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Sales and Use Tax: Manage all aspects of sales and use tax compliance, including researching and interpreting relevant tax laws, maintaining accurate records, preparing tax returns, and responding to tax authority inquiries or audits. Identify potential sales and use tax savings opportunities.
  • Tax Research and Planning: Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues, staying up to date with changes in tax laws, regulations, and court rulings. Collaborate with the tax team to develop tax planning strategies that align with business objectives and optimize the company's tax position.
  • Audit Support: Assist with tax audits and examinations, including gathering necessary documentation, preparing responses to tax authority inquiries, and communicating with auditors. Provide expert guidance and support during audit processes to ensure compliance and minimize potential tax exposures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and operations teams, to gather relevant tax information, ensure accurate reporting, and provide tax guidance on business initiatives. Participate in cross-functional projects to evaluate and mitigate tax-related risks.


Qualifications/Education:

Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree in taxation or a relevant certification is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance, provision, and SALT, preferably within a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:



  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and international tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Expertise in state and local tax (SALT), including income tax, franchise tax, property tax, and sales and use tax. Familiarity with related software and technology solutions is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and regulations and apply them to specific business scenarios.
  • Experience preparing tax compliance and provision processes, including tax return preparation, reconciliations, and tax provision calculations.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth tax research and analysis, staying abreast of changes in tax legislation and court rulings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, external stakeholders, and tax authorities.
  • Prior experience with tax audits and examinations, including audit support and communication with auditors, is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience mentoring junior tax professionals.
  • Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems (e.g., OneSource Income Tax, NetSuite, Avalara) is preferred.


Compensation/Benefits:

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and compensation for this position. The package includes base salary, bonus, equity, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k/Match.

Salary Range for this position is $85,000-$111,756.
