Students gain a love of learning while developing social skills, making friends and having fun. Position Summary: Responsibilities
Provides assistance to Teacher in planning classroom curriculum and implements plans to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the assigned student;
Provides assistance to Teacher for the assessment of an assigned student's abilities and capabilities;aids in the development and implementation of lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals; Qualifications Education;Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience working in an educational environment, or, 30 college credits with six months of related work experience, or, a Bachelor's degree in a related field are required. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Special Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form required. Familiarity with teaching methods and educational programs designed for students with learning, physical, and behavioral disabilities. Effective teaching and facilitation skills required. Basic math skills required. Effective interpersonal skills, a strong desire to work with developmentally-disabled individuals required, and the ability to implement crisis intervention techniques required. Operative knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel spreadsheets preferred. Attainment of Pool Safety Training, First Aid, CPR and Safe and Positive Approaches within the first 90 days of employment required. Valid driver's license required in incumbent's legal name and current address with no provisional restrictions. As well as one year minimum of driving experience with the required license.
