Responsibilities
POSITION PURPOSE: To receive inquiry calls and assist caller with scheduling of a face-to-face assessment or triage to an appropriate referral in the community. For Residential Coordinator, to compile all clinical and meet individual contract requirements prior to assessment and admission. To assess or ensure assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment. To screen for medical and behavioral emergency conditions. To perform assessment of behavioral healthcare needs and coordinate the clinical team effort to ensure that these needs are met either at Laurel Ridge or another appropriate provider in the community. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of psychiatric behavioral health diagnostic criteria (DSM IV), quality assessment skills, including listening and writing legibly, ability to provide customer service in a caring way, even in a high stress environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. EDUCATION: Masters Degree in a mental health field plus 1 year of experience is the minimum for RTC Admissions Coordinators. For Acute Admissions Coordinators either a Master's Degree in a mental health field (along with licensure) or graduate of an accredited nursing school. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: For acute admissions coordinators, a Texas license as an L.P.C, R.N. or LMSW is required. EXPERIENCE: 2 years mental health experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Position requires sedentary work. * Occasionally lifts and carries 50 pounds. * Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential functions. * Must be able to calmly handle crisis with patients. * Regularly needs to bend, stoop. * Position requires irregular hours and weekend hours.
