Responsibilities

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children's hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62-bed Hospital Program, a 16-bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30-bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach.

Temp RN Program Details:

  • Program Eligibility: Cannot have worked at Cumberland Hospital in previous 6 months
  • Pay Rate: $70.00 per Hour
  • Benefits: Ineligible
  • PTO: Ineligible
  • Orientation: Must be able to attend 2-week orientation, Monday thru Friday, approximately 8:00am - 4:30pm each day
  • Permanent positions are also available!! Permanent RNs are eligible for Sign-On Bonuses, our Excellent Benefits packages, and Generous PTO plans.

Shifts:

  • 7:00pm - 7:00am
  • Weekends Only (Friday/Saturday/Sunday): 7:00pm - 7:00am

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team
  • Provide medical management and assessment of patients
  • Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population
  • Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through
  • Make patient and task assignments to subordinates and monitor their performance of duties
  • Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates
  • Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN Preferred
  • Hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of VA, or Compact State License
  • Prefer one year of inpatient medical surgery, rehab, or psychiatric experience
  • Must be able to sustain physical activity and be able to remain on feet throughout the scheduled shift
  • Prefer experience working with children and adolescents in healthcare setting
  • Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job

Pay is Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.
