Position Summary

The HSC Office of Student Academic Affairs and the UNM Office of Interprofessional Education is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a Student Success Specialist. The Office of Interprofessional Education is strategically situated to enhance educational interprofessional learning opportunities across UNM, the region, and internationally. The IPE office echoes the IPEC Core Competencies and seeks to promote Interprofessional Professionalism and Practice in the areas of research, education, and healthcare practice.

Consistent with Interprofessional ideals, the IPE Honors program uniquely provides opportunities for students to learn with and from one another with an emphasis of patient centered care. The honors program offers students interprofessional opportunities that give credit and enhance their program individual curriculums. This position plays an active role on the Academic Affairs team in the coordination and success of students.

This role directly engages with students, faculty and staff in the coordination and tracking of interprofessional programming and events. IPE events and activities are both in-person and virtual.

The duties as Student Success Specialist include:

  • Participates in and assists with advisement and/or consultative services for the Pre-Health Certificate Program and Interprofessional Education (IPE) Honors students.
  • Assists with outreach and retention activities designed to attract, retain, and serve students Pre-Health Certificate Program and Interprofessional Education (IPE) Honors programs.
  • Supports activity logistics such as compiling materials, scheduling rooms, creating registrations, participating in marketing efforts, and reviewing program effectiveness.
  • Assists in the preparation and delivery of workshops, presentations, of the IPE Honors and PHSC program.
  • Coordinate, oversees, and/or performs a range of diverse administrative activities for the HSC Registrar, IPE Director, and PHSC program director. Serves as a central point of liaison with other departments and external constituencies in the resolution of a variety of day-to-day matters concerning the unit.
  • Sorts, screens, reviews, and distributes incoming and outgoing emails; composes, prepares, or ensures timely responses for the office of Interprofessional Education (IPE).
  • Assists and coordinates with HSSC and HSC Registrar with North Campus Food Pantry.
  • Tracking of student honors program progress to honors award
  • RedCap Database reporting
    • Microsoft Access Database data entry
    • Microsoft Teams data entry
  • Communication of upcoming events to IPE community through listserv emails
  • Oversees listservs:
    • IPE Honors
    • IPE Faculty Champions
  • Meeting coordinator for the IPE team
    • IPE Weekly Meetings
    • IPE Core Team Weekly Meetings
    • IPE Faculty Champion Quarterly meetings
  • Verification of student activities for Honors

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to
    communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare
    reports.
  • Basic knowledge of university settings, policies,
    programs, and services.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize educational programs,
    meetings and/or special events.
  • Database management skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office with the ability to
    build and develop Excel spreadsheets using formulas for research, advanced
    knowledge and proficient skills in MS PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet, Zoom, Doodle, Marq, Moodle
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in fast-paced working
    environments and prioritize accordingly
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, analyze and solve problems,
    and make administrative/procedural decisions, including when to consult
    management
  • Experience with event planning and support
  • Experience working at UNM Health Sciences Center or UNM
