Department Information

The College of Education (http://coe.georgiasouthern.edu/) offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare students for careers in public education, community agencies, and higher education. The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development (http://coe.georgiasouthern.edu/lthd/), one of four departments within the college, includes four distinct programs: Educational Leadership, Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Instructional Technology. The programs in Educational Leadership provide graduate degrees with specializations in P-12 and higher education leadership at the master's, educational specialist, and doctoral levels. The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership is a member of the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED), reflecting a commitment to practitioner-focused leadership development.

Job Summary

Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant or Associate Professor requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities, as well as a terminal degree. The position involves collaborating with faculty across the College of Education, supervising and assisting with field experiences, and performing service to the department, college, university, and professional community. Additional position responsibilities include the maintenance of an active research agenda involving regular publications and professional presentations. The position is an academic, tenure-track (10-month) appointment.

Required Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education Leadership or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in education or education leadership, prior to August 1, 2025.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses.

Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.

Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Experience working with diverse student populations.

Ability to provide graduate advisement.

Ability to use and model technology.

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and candidates.

Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.

Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Demonstrated skills and commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of three years of leadership experience at P-12 site-level and/or district level.

Scholarship and/or research focused on school climate, school culture, and/or comprehensive school leadership.

Evidence of engagement with educators and leaders in P-12 schools and support for school/university partnerships.

Experience with program reviews and accreditation.

Working knowledge of educational leadership standards, including national and Georgia-based standards.

Experience coordinating programs through advisement, leadership in program and curriculum development, and/or program assessment.

Evidence of a scholarly research agenda related to P-12 school leadership.

Comprehensive awareness and understanding of current issues facing P-12 Education and Leadership.

Successful experience in innovative projects, grant writing or securing external funds.

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
