Accountant Analyst Gilchrist

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional accounting duties, such as monitoring various general ledger accounts; preparing journal entries, financial reports and analysis; and reviewing financial performance. Solid understanding of month-end close procedures, including bank reconciliation. Experience working with various deadline requirements. The Accountant/Analyst assists in the performance of a range of routine administrative duties. This role provides administrative support to the Gilchrist Finance function including but not limited to: processing mail, data entry, basic logging, tracking and reporting on organization & segmented financial and operational information. Completes special projects as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

4 years of accounting experience; preferably hospital accounting experience

Financial analysis experience preferred

Skills

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and analysis to include general accounting ledgers, profit and loss statements, variance analysis, balance sheets, depreciation schedules as well as journal entry preparation and Balance Sheet Reconciliation.990 Tax and Annual Audit support preparation helpful
  • Knowledge of various computer applications, including Microsoft Office (strong excel skills)
  • Workday experience helpful
  • Skills in data analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to interpret and explain the accounting data
  • Ability to prepare accounting reports
  • Ability to maintain a pleasant, customer-centered demeanor and professional image under a variety of challenging situations
  • Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of work including but not limited to: prioritizing work and meeting deadlines

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts detailed analysis of various general ledger accounts: Gathers and organizes data, reviews data for completeness and accuracy; completes necessary logs, records and ledgers; discovers discrepancies in data, follows-up and corrects same.
  • Performs reconciliation of profit and loss and balance sheet accounts and prepares a variety of recurring financial statements.
  • Analyzes actual performance (expenses and revenues) against budgeted performance and make determination of the causes for such budget variances.
  • Gathers data and performs complex calculation to prepare a variety of recurring financial statements (i.e., profit and loss, depreciation schedules, change in financial position, etc.).
  • Prepares various journal entries and redistributions.
  • Processing, sorting and preparing finance mail for daily distribution.
  • Deposits incoming checks within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Maintains detailed reports of daily cash transactions to evaluate hospice cash position.
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations by deadline.
  • Collects or coordinates the collection of past and current financial, statistical and other GHC data and develops and presents relevant and meaningful analysis.
  • Processes invoices for payment, including but not limited to accurately verifying and coding invoices.
  • Responds to requests from outside sources including but not limited to prescription verifications and letters of agreement for durable medical equipment.
  • Assists the Finance Department with all hospice audits.
  • Respond to financial information and process queries from non-financial personnel in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$51,351.55 - $79,594.90

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
