Glassport LTSR is a 12-bed, all male treatment program that serves individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness as well as some involvement in the legal system. We offer services such as psychiatric rehabilitation, therapy, peer support services, psychiatric services, and nursing services. We offer a holistic approach to treatment, focusing on all domains of wellness. We are looking for a Psychiatric Nurse practitioner to work alongside the Psychiatrist. This position would be 4-5 hours weekly on site, and also time to collaborate with the Psychiatrist.

Position Summary

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders, and health maintenance. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner upholds the LTSR's mission by assuring that patients receive health care that is competent, caring, cost-effective, and meets with a high degree of satisfaction and supports fiscal stability of the organization.

Essential Duties and Functions

  1. Performs psychiatric evaluations within the LTSR.
  2. Provides psychiatric direction and ongoing psychopharmacological management.
  3. Conducts peer reviews with managed care companies.
  4. Ensures proper documents of services provided in electronic medical record.
  5. Works within a multidisciplinary treatment team and consults with a collaborating physician as necessary.
  6. Work and function in a culturally competent capacity with persons from a variety of ethnic and social backgrounds.
  7. Possesses exemplary interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external customers.
  8. Practice and behaviors reflect fiscal responsibility in appropriate balance with quality patient care.
  9. Defined productivity standards are proactively worked towards and established goals met.
  10. Demonstrates good time management skills and follow through.
  11. Responsible behavior in regards to attendance, punctuality, and schedule coverage.
  12. Attendance and participation in meetings, mandatory in-services, educational programs, and other activities in order to stay informed and current.
  13. Maintains required amount of continuing education credits as defined by specific governing bodies associated with the position (managed care organizations, national certification organizations.)
  14. Knowledgeable and supportive of policies, procedures, and guidelines associated with practice setting.

Qualifications

  • Five years prior experience as an RN & / or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Psych NP license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Current nationally recognized board certification or in progress.
  • Physical and emotional ability to perform the duties and responsibilities associated with the position.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience must compliment needs of the position.
