Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Purpose: Supports Hazleton facility by providing testing, inspection, and reporting services that supports manufacturing, sales, quality, and development activities for plain film, printed roll stock, and converted bags including specialty constructions and closures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tests film samples and accurately records test data per established procedures as requested by supervisor or designee
  • Supports Certificate of Assurance (COA)/Certificate of Compliance (COC) testing and inspection activities up to and including, preparation of the certification reports
  • Perform instrument verification, calibration, cleaning, and maintenance
  • Maintains data bases and files for commercial and developmental testing results
  • Supports sample collection and distribution as required
  • Supports WCOM efforts
  • Supports the Trial/New Product Process and the Non-conforming Materials Process
  • Participates in Safety Initiatives
  • Participates as needed in Food Safety and Quality Teams/Programs such as Internal Audits, SOC Audits, and Product Audits
  • Other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES

  • Possesses good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient at reading measuring devices (Rulers, gauges, gradient scales, etc.)
  • Possesses good math skills and reading comprehension
  • A basic understanding of common Quality Systems and Problem Solving tools
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of plant personnel from Management to Production Operators and Assistants
  • Basic computer skills for data collection

QUALIFICIATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in manufacturing or testing of flexible packaging, paper or related areas
  • Possesses basic computer skills required for Microsoft Office and testing equipment software
  • Possesses normal color vision
  • Work experience with lab and testing equipment preferred
