MISSION STATEMENT: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing toys to be distributed to children in the "Toyland" Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other similar and related duties may be assigned.



  • Prepare toys to be distributed in the "Toyland" Program. (Toyland provides an opportunity for low income parents to "shop" for toys for their children.)
  • Unload bags of toys from vans and bring them to the sorting area.
  • Record the number and approximate value of toys received from each business, school, mall or other sites on provided inventory forms
  • Sort toys by age and gender.
  • Place toys in boxes and label boxes to be brought to distribution area.
  • Keep work areas clean and neat.
  • Complete time sheets accurately and on time.


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER/DATA ENTRY SKILLS

None required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must be responsible and reliable, able to arrive at work on time and stay until the end of the shift each day.
