This full-time seasonal position works mid October through mid January with a flexible shift working mid day into the evening and a pay rate of $14.00/hour.

Job Objective:

This full-time temporary role assists the Volunteer Specialist with the daily operations of the Red Kettle Campaign. Christmas positions are temporary and are not entitled to benefits. The position will work during the months of October through January, however, hours of work may vary and are not guaranteed. The Salvation Army, as a church, is exempt from participation in federal and state unemployment insurance programs. Upon termination, employees are not eligible for Unemployment Compensation.

Essential Functions:

  • Dispatch nightly driver volunteers, organizing and delivering route lists, directions, and supplies, and verifying the accuracy of information regarding their route.
  • Clean, ensure functionality of, and deliver aprons, badges, kettles, bells, and any other necessary supplies for bell ringers, including attending to mid-day kettle swaps and ringer needs.
  • Create and organize kettle ID slips, volunteer signs, volunteer slips and files.
  • Inventory kettle campaign supplies: ensure supplies are in good condition; inform supervisor of new supplies needed.
  • Ensure prep, set up, and pick up of kettle stands and supplies are completed in a timely manner, including any pop-up kettle locations for special events, as well as pre- and post- season cleaning, repair, and storage of kettles and related equipment.
  • Ensure regular, Match Day, and Adopt a Kettle signs are ready for placement and/or removal by drivers.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with bell ringers, volunteer drivers, business locations, and staff.
  • Connect with appropriate personnel at kettle host sites to ensure that the staff is positively contributing and representing the business of The Salvation Army.
  • Assist Volunteer Specialist in identifying any potential new kettle and counter kettle sites.
  • Conduct a safety check on assigned vehicle before driving. Ensure that all passengers are seated in factory-installed seats and are properly secured using safety belts.
  • Ring at assigned sites or drive kettle routes as directed.



Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience: One year experience in an office environment requiring attention to detail and organizational skills.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications: Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Excellent customer service skills and friendly demeanor.
  • Strong proficiency in use of personal computer software including Microsoft Office, e-mail, and internet.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel:

Regular local travel to kettle sites and other locations throughout the Greater Green Bay area will be required.

Working Conditions:

Some of the duties of this job will be performed indoors under normal room temperatures. The noise level will generally be low. While performing other duties of the role, the employee will have exposure to outdoor weather conditions prevalent at the time, including driving after dark and in potentially inclement weather. The position will also require the employee to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
