We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Strategic Communications Test Engineer for the TMAS 2 96 CTG Task Order, supporting the 46 TS / TGBC. The 46 Test Squadron Data Links Test Flight (46 TS/TGBC) Strategic Communications Element at Eglin AFB FL is looking for a new member to conduct test planning, execution and data analysis on strategic systems. Position responsibilities can span from assisting a project lead in test planning, test execution, data analysis and report writing to being assigned to lead a project. - Technical BS Degree and 0-3 years of applicable experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
- Active Secret clearance is required and must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship.
- Relevant technical and/or operational experience with satellite-based communications networks or other satellite-centric operations
- Ability to organize information from multiple sources and distill that into a consolidated / congruent message
- Experience in authoring documents such as briefings, plans, reports, executive summaries, white papers, staff actions, data management and analysis plans
- Ability and willingness to brief senior leadership on plans and results of test events
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of Office applications
- Self-motivated
- Ability and willingness to travel
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Relevant technical and/or operational experience with Milstar and/or Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellite operations
- Applicable knowledge of and experience with Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques (STAT), Design of Experiments (DoE), and data analysis and project management, as it applies to developmental and operational testing of military satellite communications systems
- DoD acquisition experience related to test and evaluation processes
- Experience with test conduct, either from a government test-witness perspective, or as a test-execution lead
- Experience with test scoring, observation, and deficiency reporting at the component level
- Experience in software testing principles
- Familiarity with missions and systems supported by U.S. Space Force, U.S. Strategic Command, Space & Missile Systems Center, DISA, or Joint Terminal Engineering Office
- Active and current Top Secret clearance
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist senior test engineers with test planning support, including development of an integrated Test and Evaluation (T&E) strategy, to identify the availability of test resources, track risk factors to facilitate the program's acquisition strategy and assess readiness for Operational Test.
- Assist senior test engineers with authoring and coordinating Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E)-related documentation to include test plans, test procedures, test reports, and briefings.
- Assist senior test engineers with documentation for program and DT&E and Cybersecurity-related meetings to include test readiness reviews, working groups, teleconferences, and Integrated Test Team (ITT) discussions.
- Assist senior test engineers with test oversight during contractor testing and supporting the ITT.
- Conduct technical research, testing and reporting of emerging technological systems affecting the performance of test programs.
- Assist senior test engineer with test resource planning, technical and safety expertise.
- Ensures safety concerns, deficiencies, and watch items are tracked and reported.
- Review Technical documentation to gather data on which systems will be designed and supported.
- Utilize software tools to conduct in-depth data reduction and analysis which will be used to inform leadership of program activities pursuant to established objectives and technical performance criteria.
- Travel to various sites to participate in planning, execution, data analysis, report generation, etc., of program-related activities.
- Attend meetings as necessary to provide briefings, information, and recommendations
