Scope of Position

Senior Facility Planners at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUMC) work collaboratively in a comprehensive strategic-based planning approach. They plan and manage project initiation systems, capital planning, space planning and programming, master planning, estimating, standards, conceptual designs, data management, research, presentations, and project management activities. The Senior Facility Planner (Academics, Research, Healthcare) serves customers in all three OSUWMC Mission Groups. Planners bring context to customers, capturing their aspirations in physical form. Planners assist customers in developing budgets and capital plans and in subsequent implementation. The Senior Facility Planner also integrates all professional activity within the larger University planning team and planning framework. Spaces planned include the Main Campus, satellite sites, and affiliates. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) is committed to improving people's lives through innovation in research, education, and patient care. Facility Planners support the mission, vision, and values of The Ohio State University and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Senior Facility Planner (Academics, Research, and Healthcare) position connects space planning amp; programming, space modifications, construction projects, relocations, and moves to larger OSUWMC Branding initiatives and Wayfinding frameworks. Strategy created and implemented by the planners advances standards and cost reduction strategies. The Planner leads special planning studies. The Planner produces space programs, makes space recommendations, develops conceptual estimates, and creates communication strategies. These respond to customers space requests, functional and furniture needs, move and logistic requirements, and budgets.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Interior Space Planning, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Design, or a similar field or equivalent business-oriented experience

  • 4 years business experience required

  • Experience with a multidisciplinary academic medical center, a research environment, or a complex organizational environment is required

  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Design software Bluebeam as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Autodesk Visualization tools and software, and Adobe Creative Suite software are required

  • Experience with PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Microsoft Project desired (AutoCAD, Revit not required)

  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory codes applicable to clinical, office, and research environments is highly desirable

  • Experiences should show proficiency in managing multiple tasks, sensitivity to the costs of facility operations and management concerns, and creativity
