The Ideal Candidate

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is part of the HR Business Partnerships team, reporting to the Director, HR Business Partnerships. This position is responsible for aligning people-related initiatives to the needs and long-term strategies of the assigned areas. This position partners with both leadership of assigned areas and HR Centers of Excellence to provide consultative support to both managers and employees on HR related topics. The HRBP is an active participant in assigned areas' leadership teams and has a high level of business acumen.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Collaborate with business leaders to align HR strategies in support of Genesco's footwear-focused strategy
  • Provide input and recommendations on workforce planning and organizational development to support long-term business goals
  • Execute the deployment of annual employee engagement survey within assigned business areas including driving participation, understanding team dynamics, and creating meaningful action plans to increase employee engagement
  • Facilitate and implement talent management related initiatives such as succession planning, performance management and learning & development
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition COE on recruitment and onboarding processes that align with business needs
  • Provide consultation to leaders, managers, and employees on a variety of topics such as coaching, performance management, policy interpretations, career progression, leadership development, conflict management, etc. in order to drive productivity and employee engagement
  • Provide input into the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies and procedures and their distribution
  • Partner with Employee Relations COE on investigations and/or potential disciplinary actions for employees within assigned areas
  • Advise managers and employees on benefits and compensation-related matters in an effort to retain key talent; support the salary planning process including merit and bonus cycles


Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have

  • 5 - 7 years of progressive HR experience, a focus on prior HRBP experience or similar strategic HR role preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Relevant HR Certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Analytical skills to interpret HR metrics and guide decision-making
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Familiarity with HRIS and other HR technologies
