Senior Data Engineer

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Remote, onsite required 1 day per month

Summary:

Assists in the design, development, implementation, and on-going support for data pipelines and infrastructure on cloud platforms. Collaborates with teams both internal and external to the Enterprise Data & Analytics team to ensure data quality, integrity, and availability while promoting best practices for data management and data government. Technical background in data engineering and the ability to collaborate within the Enterprise Data and Analytics department.

Responsibilities:

1. Gathers requirements and prioritizes work based on organizational, strategic, and clinical initiatives.

2. Promotes advanced analytics within the user community and is dedicated to evolving and improving self-service analytics capabilities within the hospital.

3. Designs, develops, and maintains complex and robust data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL pipelines.

4. Implements best practices for data governance, data security, and data quality assurance.

5. Assists in evaluating and adopting new technologies and tools to improve the efficiency and scalability of data processing systems.

6. Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of data processing workflows.

7. Establishes timelines and ensures timely completion of high-quality deliverables.

8. Tracks project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders, and proactively addresses any issues that may arise.

Technical Expertise:

1. Advanced knowledge and experience with data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics and reporting tools, preferably Epic's data warehouse.

2. Proficient in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, etc.

3. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of teams within the Enterprise & Data Analytics department.

4. Ability to work with peers and management within the Enterprise Data & Analytics department.

5. Experienced in using Python for automation, scripting and basic data analysis. Knowledgeable in using CI/CD pipelines in a DevOps environment.

6. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite 360 [Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint] or similar software is required.

7. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree required in related field of computer science, analytics, information services, or healthcare.

2. Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills required.

3. Minimum of three (3) years of relevant data engineering and analytics experience required.

4. Certification: None required. Certification in cloud architecture, clinical, healthcare, or nursing informatics preferred.
