The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant utilizes nursing arts and sciences, education, medical, psychosocial and cultural theories to facilitate and to provide the delivery of direct clinical care for a high-risk adult population. The position reports to the Director of the ARTS Adult Outpatient Program (AOP) and is co-supervised by the Assistant Medical Director. The position will provide psychiatric care to the outpatient substance dependent, mentally ill, or co-occurring disordered patients; evaluations, prescription administration and maintenance, and ongoing clinical consultation with the clinical treatment team. This position works independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide quality patient management, education and continuity of care. Key Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Prescribe medications
- Prescribe or make recommendations for Medication Assisted Treatment
- Clinical practice and administration of psychotherapy
- Consultation
- Education and professional development
- Assess mental health needs of Adult Outpatient Program patients
- Use full scope of therapeutic skills to assess, diagnose and treat patients with disorders or potential for such disorders
- Identify any risk factors for psychiatric disorders
- Blood Draws
- Conduct medical evaluations, which shall include, at minimum, the following:
- Past medical history, past substance abuse history including required opioid use and dependence chronologies, choice of opioid and route of administration.
- Evidence of current physiological dependence; and
- Cardiovascular assessment for the risk of Torsades de Pointe.
- Provide oversight of Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant interns.
- Participate and collaborate on grant-funded projects for priority populations, including pregnant women and women with young children.
- Other duties that are assigned by the Medical Director and/or the Director of the Adult Outpatient Program.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver Metro Area, where we have six clinics.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Education:
- Graduate degree from an accredited School of Nursing
- Minimum degree qualifications: Select the credentials that apply NP/APN/PA , or LCSW, or PhD and/or PsyD, or MD and/or DO
- Possess valid Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant licensure in Colorado
- Certification(s) in a specialty area, as appropriate to the position
- Clinical expertise in specialty area, as appropriate to the position
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of medications used to treat substance abuse
- Demonstrated working experience with medications used to treat substance abuse
- Eligible and willing to have Prescriptive Authority & DATA 2000 Waiver
- Eligible/licensed in Colorado, and willing, to draw blood
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with clients who are involved with probation, human services, and/or other referral sources.
- Experience working with opioid-dependent, adult clients
- Experience with patient treatment plans and other clinical/medical documentation
- Experience with therapeutic confrontation and structures
- Experience observing, monitoring and intervening in drug/alcohol treatment
- Experience providing collaborative, integrative health care to patients
- Possess valid Certified Addictions Technician (CAT) or Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS) registration in Colorado
- The person in this position will be expected to obtain a Mid-Level Exemption (MLE) status from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Instructor: $104,000 to $120,000. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
