Job Summary

The Getty Research Institute is seeking a research assistant who will assist the associate director with facilitating research, organizing convenings with GRI stakeholders, and interpretive programming. The ideal candidate will be a graduate student with experience in archival management and preservation with diverse research experience. Field of specialization is open.



Major Job Responsibilities

    Conducts research on various topics related to art history, libraries, and collections
  • Gathers, processes, and presents institutional data on current practices and programs in peer academic institutions, as well as galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM)
  • Requests images for exhibitions and/or publications; researches and obtains art and image permissions
  • Proofreads and edits, as needed
  • Assists with the creation of reports, project websites, and PowerPoint presentations
  • May copyedit and review texts for public dissemination or publication


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in art history or related field; Master's degree or some graduate work preferred
  • 0-2 years research experience (education may be considered)
  • Strong skills in gathering, manipulating, evaluating, and presenting qualitative and quantitative data


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Background in Information Studies, Art History, Digital Humanitieor related discipline
  • Attention to details
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to build relationships, partner with others and work on teams
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines for oneself
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Apple Airtable, and Google Docs
