JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Network Engineer staff position is based locally in Burlington, Vermont and requires on-site work regularly. Staff must provide support coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Shift coverage and on-call coverage will be required. This position requires candidates to live within one hour travel time from the UVM Medical Center, Burlington, Vermont.

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in networking while developing additional skill sets

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and resolve moderate networking issues within the hospital.
Install, configure, and maintain networking devices like switches, routers, and firewalls.
Provide support for network access issues, including VPNs and wireless networks.
Assist in designing network architectures to support hospital operations.
Perform network diagnostics and generate performance reports.
Collaborate with the IT team to implement new networking systems or upgrades.
Ensure compliance with hospital network security policies.
Train and provide guidance to junior network staff.
Engage in troubleshooting with other departments to address networking needs.
Optimize network performance and quality for patient care systems.

SKILLS

Expanded knowledge of networking concepts and devices.
Experience with network security protocols and policies.
Proficiency in network troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Ability to analyze network performance metrics.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Intermediate knowledge of network management software.
Clear communication skills for collaboration across departments.
Basic project management experience.
Familiarity with wireless networking systems.
Knowledge of networking in a healthcare environment.
Ability to document and update network configurations and changes.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree or formal technical training or equivalent experience.

Cisco certifications like CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent network certifications with Palo Alto, Juniper preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

3 or more years of experience
