POSITION SUMMARY: Boston Medical Center is seeking Nursing Supervisors (Overnight/Weekends/Holidays) to work at its 80-bed behavioral health hospital located in Brockton, MA. BMC Brockton operates as a behavioral health accountable care organization providing cutting edge inpatient treatment and stabilization for individuals experiencing complex mental health and substance use needs.
Under the supervision of the Patient Care Director or designee, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that patients receive optimal care for their mental, emotional and behavioral disorders during the off shifts. The Nursing Supervisors work closely with the leadership team, staff nurses, mental health specialists and unit coordinators providing supervision, ensuring adequate staffing coverage and addressing patient care needs in collaboration with the on-call provider. The Nursing supervisor has the responsibility to facilitate new admissions, review medical appropriateness of patients presenting with comorbidities, as well as acuity levels throughout the facility to maintain quality and safety. Position:Off-Shift Nursing Supervisor, RN Department: Brockton Behavioral Health Center Schedule: Per Diem, At least one shift per month ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Provide crisis intervention as needed Provide nursing staff supervision and support Ensure nursing operational standards are met according to BMC, DMH, DPH and TJC guidelines Participate in quality improvement review and implementation Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner Ensure optimal patient care is provided by participating in shift reports, DaSH, and chart audits and other multidisciplinary meetings, as appropriate Ensure that all shifts are adequately staff according to DMH, TJC and DPH guidelines Promptly report events to the appropriate licensing bodies, as needed Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists in the care of the patient Communicate with family members, case managers and other stakeholders regarding treatment and care

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques used in the care and treatment of patients in psychiatric settings Knowledge of social, psychological, and physical factors of psychiatric disorders Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their side effects Knowledge of State and Federal regulations that apply to the care of patients in inpatient psychiatric settings Knowledge of principles of crisis prevention and de-escalation Provides effective leadership in high-stress situations with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy Requires analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues, manage budgets, supervise staff and conduct quality improvement projects. Must have excellent organizational skill to appropriately set priorities and efficiently complete work. Advanced verbal interpersonal and writing skills in order to perform required leadership duties. Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access and enter data from computerized information systems. Work requires physical ability to perform core job responsibilities in accordance with the setting demands for patient populations regularly served.
