Huntsman is seeking an Application Chemist - Subject Matter Expert for Industrial Components supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in HATC, The Woodlands Texas. This position will report to the Sr. Technical Services Manager.

Job Scope

This role will focus on developing, optimizing, and supporting component solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of components for industrial formulations and applications, technical expertise, strong customer-facing skills, and a passion for innovation.

In summary, as the Application Chemist, you will:

Drive the advancement and implementation of new components solutions in industrial applications by working closely with project managers and formulators at industry leading adhesive and composite manufacturers to support the Advanced Materials division's objectives and growth plans.

Collaborate with customers to understand their components needs and provide tailored solutions.

Obtain qualifications with industrial adhesive and composite manufacturers for Huntsman components. Negotiate product specifications with customers as needed to align Huntsman capabilities with customer expectations.

Proactively network and develop industry relationships and build strategic connections to drive growth, innovation and influence within the industrial adhesive and composite industry.

Collaborate with customer technical and manufacturing teams to identify and diagnose challenges and recommend process or product improvements.

Identify opportunities for enhancement in industrial adhesive and composite products, processes, and materials, and deliver component solutions that provide improved performance and efficiency.

Lead and support the development of new component products and technologies.

Develop in-depth knowledge of Huntsman's advanced materials product portfolio of industrial components and their applications and benefits.

Provide expert guidance on component selection, formulation, value proposition, performance testing, and troubleshooting

Work closely with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to ensure successful product launches, market positioning, and alignment of technical solutions with customer needs.

Provide technical support to customers and internal teams, addressing any issues or challenges related to industrial components.

Conduct technical presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions for customers, distributors, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Champion Huntsman's EHS practices and ensure that all component products meet or exceed quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Stay updated with industry trends, market demands, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

Maintain accurate documentation, including technical activities and solutions, application guidelines, and customer interactions.

Collaborate with global market and technical teams to share knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in components, for industrial adhesive or composite applications or in the formulation of industrial adhesives, with a focus on advanced materials and applications.

Willingness to travel extensively within the Americas as needed. Domestic travel to customers and industry events (anticipated travel of 25-40%).

International travel minimal, up to 2 times per year.

Skills & Knowledge

Proven technical expertise in component technologies, formulation development, and application techniques, with the ability to solve complex problems.

Excellent customer-facing skills to build relationships, identify and assess requirements and needs, and work collaboratively to create technical solutions.

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively and influence various functions at customers and within the organization.

Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and quality control processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced technical degree or Master's in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Experience with thermoset polymers or advanced materials
