Job Description

The Department of English at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a non-tenure track full-time nine-month Lecturer position as the Chief Undergraduate Advisor to begin with the Spring 2025 semester. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of renewal.

The successful applicant would be responsible for advising undergraduate English majors, teaching three English courses each academic year (a 2/1 load), and a range of other duties related to advising, including career preparation and outreach to campus entities.

Advising experience is preferred but not required.

This is an academic-year appointment with a starting date of January 26, 2025. However, the appointment is expected to have a pre-appointment with a starting date of January 1, 2025 to adequately prepare for the upcoming semester.

Requirements

ABD or Ph.D. in English or related field, successful teaching record, and commitment to participation in an active and energetic department.
