Test Engineering Technician (Aerospace Electronics)

Acara Solutions has been providing advanced manufacturing firms around the U.S. with our staffing related services for over 65 years. Our international aerospace client with a plant in Ft. Walton Beach, FL (Panhandle) has an opening for a Test Engineering Technician to join their organization. The pay rate is $30 - $36 per hour. For those relocating, a sign-on bonus is available. They are only minutes from white sandy beaches in this tourist town and rarely do they have storms hit there.
You will be building the test equipment and running tests.
Reporting to the Test Group Supervisor, you will be responsible to build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify production electronic components and products, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, instrumentation, digital / analog electronic products, electro-mechanical products, test equipment, and applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics.
* Interpret and work in accordance with work orders, drawings and schematics, sketches, catalogs, manuals, all other applicable engineering and customer specifications, and oral instructions.
* Setup, adjust, adapt, operate and interpret results from standard and special purpose test equipment, applicable to assigned area, such as multi-meters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, field intensity meters, altitude chamber, flow meter, automatic test equipment or special test consoles to simulate in-service condition.
* Perform functional, calibration, qualification, acceptance tests (if applicable), design verification tests under all applicable environmental and operational variables such as temperature, humidity, altitude, shock, vibration, EMI, and various stresses. May perform reliability tests for probable life, probable failure, extreme conditions, etc.
* Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems.
* Test and align hybrid circuitry.
* Modify and update ATP's, STP's, QTP's; DVTP's, and other relevant and related procedures, perform each test accordingly.
* Document and analyze and organize test data; make computations, plot, graph and chart as needed; and otherwise prepare concise and accurate reports of test results.
* Perform independently or assist engineers in problem solving such as confined interference factors, alternative or unsuitable components, producibility problems, and feasibility of applications.
* Required to program test equipment and may be required to utilize and program other software necessary to complete job responsibilities.
* Assist and participate in design rules for engineering and manufacturing.
* Interface with all applicable groups such as production technicians, assemblers, buyers, engineers, and others as necessary to exchange information, provide technical assistance, and share equipment. Assist with the transition of engineering to production.
* Setup equipment and interpret specifications. Train, mentor, and check the accuracy of work of designated employees of lower classification.
* Interface with customers, and provide customer support, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems and to provide information on product.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Min 3 years of electronic test technician experience similar to the above duties that includes experience reading engineering drawings and blueprints of wiring and connectors and troubleshooting equipment (at board level not required)
- Including knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Min 3 years of experience building test equipment
Min 2 years of lab tool experience, e.g., multi-meters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes...
Due to U.S. military customers, candidates may need to be able to obtain a Secret clearance in the future.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Associate's or technical degree in electronics
5+ years of experience
