Job Summary: The Lifeguard and Aquatics Lead position is responsible for assisting the Manager-Aquatics & Fitness and Supervisor-Aquatics with ensuring that coverage and rotations are adequate in meeting American Red Cross (ARC) standards and with development of various aquatics programing actives. Other duties include maintaining accurate records, ensuring proper water chemical content, and pool cleanliness according to San Bernardino County Health Department's legal limits, interacting with patrons, and meets the safety standards required by ARC. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum three years of fitness teaching experience required.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to perform all American Red Cross Lifeguarding skills and CPR skills; swim 500 yards in 10 minutes required; perform active victim, passive victim, and spinal injury rescues. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Lifeguard Training and Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer required. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required. Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certification required.
