Reliability Engineering Manager - Application Engineering

Position Summary

The Reliability Engineering Manager - Application Engineering will be responsible for leading the Application Engineering strategy, function and team. They will be responsible for developing strategies and operations to deliver best-in-class services (pre-sales solutioning, field visits, sales support, standard processes, consultation, industry expertise) to help customers improve their Maintenance & Reliability excellence practices while helping Perceptiv grow sales. This individual will be responsible for working closely with our Sales, Marketing, Reporting & Analytics, Product Management and Leadership teams to develop a strategy to build pre-sale reliability engineering and consulting expertise that supports aggressive growth targets.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day leadership of Application Engineering team, which includes management of global resources

  • Responsible for function that supports Sales pre-sale to conduct site visits and virtual consultations with end users and OEM across key target industries on how to improve their overall plant reliability, including understanding their current challenges, proposing and scoping Perceptiv solutions that meet their needs, and serving as the technical expert in all customer interactions

  • Develop and execute strategic plan to build and evolve Perceptiv Application Engineering expertise and capabilities

  • Lead delivery of pre-sale consulting, field visits, scope creation, bill of materials creation, floorplans markups, ongoing process improvement implementation, Sales collaboration, customer communication, and relevant KPI tracking and reporting

  • Shared accountability for Sales goals, including booked order growth, gross margin, quote turnaround time, and employee utilization

  • Build and scale global service operations (i.e., people, process, systems and tools) to deliver a best-in-class customer experience while building effective and efficient delivery methodologies

  • Coordinate Application Engineering team to successfully and safely execute all tasks, both in-office and field

  • Contribute content and direction to MarCom for collateral generation, white papers, and videos in conjunction with related campaigns and productization of Service offering

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams, bringing in Voice of Customer, to create a multi-year roadmap that best meet our target customers' needs

  • Serve as member of Perceptiv leadership team to support growth and maturity of this high-growth area

  • Deliver strategies that are disruptive to the marketplace and uniquely differentiate Perceptiv, including creating a long-term vision and strategy for Application Engineering

  • Act as "face of Application Engineering" to the company and industry for Perceptiv

  • Build slide decks about our solutions, applications, projects, products, customer success stories, strategies, and present them in person and virtually, at customer sites, internally and at trade shows.

  • Lead in the creation of documents and programs concerning the Perceptiv Services solutions and their usage. This can include case studies, best practices, instruction manuals, FAQ's, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, Engineering discipline preferred. MS or MBA a plus

  • 10+ years industrial manufacturing experience; preferably with exposure to rotating machinery, remote condition monitoring, and industrial networking & controls.

  • 10+ years industrial reliability experience across varied industries and applications

  • Experience managing and leading a Professional Services organization a plus

  • Demonstrated expertise across sensing modalities (i.e. vibration, current, torque, etc.) and applications

  • Deep experience and reliability expertise across targeted industries (i.e. Food & Beverage, Intralogistics, Metals, Mining, Heavy Industry)

  • Strong working knowledge of plant operations, industrial machinery and maintenance best practices.

  • Proven experience building and leading a team of cross-functional professionals (e.g., reliability engineers, business development managers, customer success managers, project managers) a plus

  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling a professional services business with accountability for financial targets; preferably with experience in a subscription-based business model preferred

  • Experience with analog signal processing (trending, waveform and spectral analysis) and/or Criticality Analysis preferred

  • Experience building analytical tools to support automation of appropriate reliability reports to support improving efficiency and effectiveness of Reliability Engineering Team a plus

  • Strong customer facing skills with a focus on customer service, voice-of-customer, and ability to create service packages, standards, and programs to best support customers

  • Experience and strong knowledge of key industrial reliability related metrics, including cost avoidance, unplanned downtime, OEE, etc.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) a plus

  • Certified Vibration Analyst a plus

  • Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills - both verbal and written

  • Strong customer facing, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills

  • Excellent collaborator who can effectively function in a matrix and team environment

  • Strong analytical stills

  • Strong developer of talent and culture

  • Travel: Up to 75%
