The Global Business Process Team Master Data Director (LEAP Programme) will be responsible for delivering a Global Master Data Governance (MDG) and Master Data Maintenance (MDM) capability for the business that is fit for purpose to support the S+N business strategies, objectives and goals across all business regions and functions, with particular focus on the green field implementation of Smith+Nephew's Global ERP using SAP S4 HANA technology and associated linked master data applications. What will you be doing? 1.Work collaboratively and cross functionally, in their Global role, across the business regions (Global, Regional, Local) as well as the business functions (Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Manufacturing, R&D, Logistics & Warehousing, Reporting and Analytics) as well as the three business franchises 2.Define the overall Global Master Data Governance (MDG) and Master Data Maintenance (MDM) strategies to support the S+N business, which links global, regional and local master data requirements together 3.Ensure the design and delivery of the correct data architecture and data integration requirements across all relevant in scope compliant business systems 4.Work with the business to identify data standardization, enrichment, loading, cleansing, de-duplication and archiving opportunities as part of the S+N Global Template rollout 5.Provide business validated master data sets for loading into various test environments to support the approved data sets being used during the testing and validation phases of the S+N Global Template rollout Work closely with the other Global Business Process Owners in the team to align the master data requirements and processes needed to support the defined business processes within their functional areas Define business requirements related to all relevant master data by consolidating inputs from all relevant business and IT stakeholders and be responsible for any cost and benefit calculations required for any new solutions or continuous improvement initiatives Ensure any IT solutions delivered for MDG and MDM are fit for purpose and effective The program is built around founding principles and assumptions that will drive towards an outcome from the start for which this role will play a leading and critical part in ensuring they are achieved; these are in summary form: Standardized global template built from best in class as defined by SAP pertinent for the life science sector with minimal (i.e. <10%) variation from that standard Maintaining the concept of "keep the core clean" by leveraging standard as well as modern SAP technology to avoid impacting the ERP core Driving standardization across all S+N franchise operations enabled by SAP technology and the global template concept Driving standardization and cleansing for data and related SAP data model as defined by the global template solution and supporting processes Driving outcomes for total cost of ownership reduction of our global SAP investment over time built around standardization, simplification, and various technology plays Change management is a fundamental built into the program from the start which needs to be transparent and effective to allow a journey of change for the company Maintaining the scope of the global template as defined by the program charter to ensure that ERP is kept "right-sized" as understood within S+N - the concept of change of any nature is carefully and strongly controlled The development of future organizational capability in terms of program operations and service delivery operations are carefully maintained and considered throughout the journey This role will be a critical member of the Global BPO team and PMO group supporting the delivery of this strategic initiative and is primarily tasked to ensure a successful implementation of the Global MDG and MDM strategies as scoped and planned to deliver the agreed value to the S&N Business optimally. Responsibilities:
- Defining and approving the Data Standards, Quality, Ownership, Creation, Maintenance and Archiving processes required to deliver the Global MDG and MDM strategies and support the Global Business Processes in the S+N Global Tempate at Global/Regional/Local levels where applicable
- Ensuring that the data quality, regulatory, legal and privacy aspects of the S+N Global Template data is consistent, accurate and fit for purpose
- Developing a set of process performance KPI's to measure master data consistency, accuracy and compliance
- Working with the business to identify data standardization, enrichment, loading, cleansing, de-duplication and archiving opportunities as part of the S+N Global Template rollout
- Working with the business to carry out pre-load and post-load validations on all master data templates being used for data loads for each implementation wave/phase of the S+N Global Template rollout (covering testing, performance, dry runs and cutover cycles)
- Creating a fit for purpose Global MDG and MDM team to govern, approve, review quality, maintain standards and support the business in maintaining their master data properly post the S+N Global Template rollouts (waves/phases)
- Owning the Global BPO - MDM business team and coordinating with the business SME's and Global BPO work streams to support all business data activities during the S+N Global Template rollout
- Ensures there is a capable S+N MDG/MDM team in place post go live when the rollout is completed so there is a successful transition from the program to service delivery (Business as usual (BAU))
- Working collaboratively with the Global IT Lead - MDM and their team to optimally develop the integrated system capabilities to support and deliver the required Global MDG and MDM processes that enable the S+N business strategies, objectives and goals across all business regions and functions
- Working collaboratively with the Global Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Lead and their team to successfully integrate the required Global MDG and MDM processes with the PLM processes and capabilities to ensure continuous alignment and integration Working collaboratively with the Global Business Services (GBS)
- Lead and their team to successfully integrate the required Global MDG and MDM processes with the GBS data processes and capabilities to ensure continuous alignment and integration
What will you need to be successful?
- 15+ Business/IT career experience preferably with 10+ years of Global MDG and MDM experience
- 7+ leading and implementing MDG and MDM processes, strategies and performance measurements in IT programs of multi-national / multi franchise / multi-year projects end to end resulting in evidential delivery of value into the business
- Working in sophisticated, matrix-organized program structures and teams with multiple skills and locations
- Strong communicator with various types of stakeholders including executives
- Experienced vendor relationship management, particularly in the data sphere, including measuring vendor performance
- Strong, multi-year business process MDG and MDM experience as defined by the scope of the program
- Experienced working with teams from different backgrounds 7+ MDG and MDM governance experience influencing and engaging with stakeholders up to the Executive level
- Experienced in commercial negotiation, vendor management, RFP process, and SOW delivery with respect to vendors delivering MDG and MDM services to the business
- Strong people and development skills, experienced in management between 5-10 direct reports with Business or IT team Evidential experience in leading sophisticated master data in large programs to scope, influencing customers to effect a successful on-time delivery
- Ability to lead and empower teams through various mechanisms to encourage people and grow people to enable them to succeed
- Ability to work with wider Business and IT community (e.g. infrastructure) to remove roadblocks, influence delivery to ensure program success
- Experience and practitioner with MS365 tool kit
- Experience of Process Modelling Tools and understsanding master data requirement for defined business processes
- Medical device sector or more broadly life sciences ERP experience (SAP ECC and/or S4 HANA is desirebale) SOX experience GxP Experience Ideally come from a functional / business process background rather than technical though this would be considered
- Any certifications in MDG and/or MDM is desirable Business qualification in master data management is desirable
- A strong service delivery mindset to meet program timelines and wave/phase milestones
- Prior experience working with SAP MDG or similar tools which interface with SAP ERP solutions is desirable
