EcoSort, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscience Forklift/Equipment Operator, to join our team in Eugene, OR

Starting pay is $25-$27 /hr DOE.

Schedule: 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional overtime. May change depending on coverage needs. Occasional Saturdays.

Drug and alcohol testing: Subject to pre-employment drug testing and random selection drug and alcohol testing per Company policy.

This is a support position with high performance-based career growth potential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate forklift, excavator, backhoe or other equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Completes daily reports on pre and post trip inspections of equipment.
  • Fuels vehicle daily.
  • Yard and facility maintenance including debris and clean up.
  • Spotting Trucks.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Specific duties can change on the daily basis as operation needs change.
  • Working outside in all weather conditions.
  • Operates recycling baler.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as occasional exposure to toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; work with a sense of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise
  • Experience operating equipment; forklift, skid steer, excavator, or similar preferred.
  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
