Job Description

The Pace MN-Field Water Sampling team based in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a motivated individual to join their team, as an entry level Field Tech. This quality driven employee will be responsible for the collection of water samples and related environmental testing data for use in determining environmental and health safety compliance and pollution prevention control. Samples are collected from a variety of sources such as treated and untreated industrial process water, drinking water, groundwater, surface water, sediments, and soils. The responsibilities will also include performing basic calculations, data entry, test instrument calibration, maintenance, and use. A strong emphasis is placed on accurate project documentation and adherence to Standard Operation Procedures.

Job Duties:



  • The tech will be responsible for providing wastewater and groundwater testing services to clients in the greater twin cities and surrounding areas, including northern MN.
  • The tech will be responsible for performing daily sampling projects ranging from surface water, drinking water, ground water, soil, to industrial process waste.
  • The tech will be responsible for programming, deployment and retrieval of auto-samplers and flow monitoring equipment.
  • The tech will be responsible for recording measurements and calibrating and performing maintenance on a variety of water quality meters.
  • Ability to interpret scientific documentation including environmental permits, site specific sampling plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans, and EPA methodologies.
  • A motivated individual would interact daily with clients, promote cooperation and teamwork among staff and follow Pace policies and standard operating procedures.

Schedule:



  • Hours vary due to client scheduling; typically Monday - Friday with occasional weekend hours.
  • Requires travel/overnights, up to or exceeding 25% of the time, some quarters more frequent than others.
  • Capable and willing to work outdoors in all varying conditions. Some sampling locations are remote, requiring the use of an ATV to access.



Education:



  • Must have High School Diploma. AS or BS degree preferred (Environmental Science or related field is ideal)
  • Experience in related studies or work is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. One year of experience in a lab or environmental setting is preferred.



Requirements:



  • A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Drug Free
  • Mobility to safely operate a motor vehicle and exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
  • Experience operating a watercraft and off-road driving experience utilizing ATVs is a plus.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; experience in related work is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. One year of experience in a lab or environmental setting is preferred.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.



  • Valid Driver's License.
