M-F, 8 hrs/day; some evening and weekend work required. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to attend press events scheduled on evenings and weekends. Must be willing to travel locally, regionally, and nationally, as necessary, to make sales calls, meet with vendors, and attend select press conferences and trade shows. |

Position Summary |
The Marketing and Sales Director is responsible for the success of the marketing and sales strategies supporting the University of Georgia Press publishing program. They direct all marketing and sales efforts, including domestic and international sales; publicity; advertising; exhibits; digital marketing; direct marketing; social media; and awards. A key member of the leadership team, they participate in organizational decisions, including publishing strategies, goal-setting, strategic planning, fundraising, and other work. The Marketing and Sales Director reports to the Director of the University of Georgia Press and manages a staff of four FTEs along with graduate assistants and student interns.

- Plan, communicate, and implement comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for backlist, current, and forthcoming press titles.
- Recommend print runs, publication models, prices, and discounts for all new books, and communicate plans to press staff, series editors, and authors.
- Develop positive author relationships through communication and coordination with acquisitions editors to strengthen Press's reputation and aid in author retention and recruitment.

- Manage domestic and international sales representation.
- Conduct biannual sales conferences and call on national accounts.
- Engage regularly with distributor.
- Manage ebook vendors and library aggregator strategy.
- Identify and pursue special sales opportunities, including local and regional non-bookstore accounts.
- Conduct annual backlist price and discount reviews and recommend pricing and discount changes. Provide sales analysis, including annual revenue forecasts and sales by subject area, channel, and territory.
