Overview

This is an intern level position. Intern will gain practical, hands-on experience in the utility industry under close supervision. This position will provide challenging assignments, networking opportunities, and a chance to learn from experienced energy industry professionals.


Responsibilities

  • Check operation of pulverizers, coal feeders, scales, sumps, hotwells, heater drains, air compressors, heater levels, filters, and conveying equipment.
  • Make routine inspections on and around assigned equipment and report any irregularities to the unit operator.
  • Take readings and record same: Change charts on recording meters and instruments as directed. Assist employees in carrying out work assignments.
  • Keep chemical regenerate tanks and other chemical tanks and/or storage bins at proper operating levels. Check operation of motors, bearings, hydraulic couplings on draft fans, and feed pumps.
  • Comply with all safety rules related to the position and plant operations.
  • Prepare and take the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) POSS/MASS test measuring job responsive aptitude, ability to retain knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field. Applicable degree fields include Engineering and Electronics Technology, Applied Process Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 2.50 GPA.
