JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg, The Office of Continuing Education, invites applications from dynamic and experienced individuals interested in teaching Non-Credit classes on a part-time, adjunct basis. Teaching topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • leadership/management
  • supervisory skills
  • computer literacy
  • project management
  • design thinking
  • foreign languages
  • artificial intelligence
  • addictions and recovery
  • communications

These roles involve delivering engaging and high-quality instruction to traditional and non-traditional students, fostering a creative and innovative learning environment, and contributing to the development of the curriculum. Instructors should be available to teach a variable work schedule.

Job Duties Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in instructor's area of subject matter expertise.
  • Develop and implement course materials, lesson plans, and assignments.
  • Foster a creative and innovative learning environment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in instructor's area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the curriculum and student experience.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field based on subject matter and course needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in course subject matter.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level.
  • Experience with online teaching and learning platforms.
  • Proven track record of innovation and creativity in teaching and professional practice.

Pay for these classes is hourly and determined based on instructor experience, project logistics, and the frequency and duration of each class, with no University benefits.
