Oncology Data Specialist - FitzPatrick Cancer Center

Per Diem opportunity for a Certified Oncology Data Specialist.

The Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) performs a variety of functions related to the collection, abstraction, and analysis of oncology data to develop and maintain a comprehensive cancer database in accordance with the New York State Cancer Registry, American College of Surgeons: Commission on Cancer and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital regulations. Assists in other activities of the cancer program in order to maintain hospital accreditation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The Oncology Data Specialist works 100% remote either within NYS or out of state.

• Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) Certification is required
• 3+ Years abstracting experience
• Proficiency in data entry and using various computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to type 35 Net/Adjusted WPM required.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals.
• As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
