This position reports to the Sr Manager, Maintenance and Reliability. The Specialist, QC Inspection is a part of the Mechanical Integrity Team within the Augusta Reliability Group and supports the site inspection and QC program in compliance with all applicable codes for all maintenance and project work.

This position is located in Augusta, GA and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:



  • Provide welding quality control (QC) oversite for all welding activities on site (in house and outside contractors)
  • Create and maintain welding data sheets and records for planning packages and nested contractors
  • Comply with all applicable codes such as National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), American Petroleum Institute (API) 570, API 653, API 571, ASME Process Piping Code B31.3, ASME Boiler Piping code B31.1, ASME Pressure Vessel Code, etc
  • Create post weld heat treatment (PWHT) procedures in accordance with applicable codes
  • Review completed PWHT charts for code and procedure compliance
  • Plan and execute code vessel fabrication under ASME code stamps
  • Plan and execute vessel repair work under NBIC R-stamp
  • Work with Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) to maintain requirements for code work
  • Work with Owner - User Inspectors on NBIC R-stamp
  • Fill out necessary NBIC forms such as R-1's and R-2's
  • Perform Positive Material Identification (PMI) on equipment and materials
  • Write Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Create Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) for WPS's
  • Prepare for and attend code stamp joint reviews for code stamp renewal
  • Become certified as a level II in visual inspection (VT), dye penetrant inspection (PT), and ultrasonic thickness inspection (UT)
  • Become familiar with magnetic particle inspection (MT)
  • Become certified in reading X-ray film under American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Radiograph Inspector (CRI) or similar
  • Aid welders in weld joint geometry, weld processes, weld procedures, etc
  • Travel when requested to fabrication shops to inspect Nutrien Pressure Vessels under construction
  • Periodically conduct internal audit on our code programs including owner-user program
  • Make suggestions as needed to site QC manuals
  • Generate quality equipment inspection and recommendation reports for historical data, MOC support documentation, project justification, etc
  • Enter documentation into the static asset inspection database (Visions)



What you will bring:



  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate degree or some college in industrial technology field is preferred
  • 7+ years of welding experience required
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and required overtime, particularly during turnarounds and unit down times
  • Willingness to participate on corporate teams and assist other locations (some travel required; less than 10%)
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights up to 250' above ground level, safely lift up to 50lbs, walk, crawl, bend, stoop, and work in confined spaces
