Machine Operator (Swing)

We are currently searching for a Machine Operator to be based out of Molalla, Oregon. Machine Operators, under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, are responsible for maintaining, controlling, and operating equipment used in the manufacturing of recycling plastics. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior success as a Material Handler or equivalent position at Atkore and experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus. This position starting base rate is $22.55 per hour, with a shift premium available for night shift. Atkore offers a competitive pay and benefits package.

What you'll do:



  • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are always adhered to.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing material to the machine, adjusting, as necessary.
  • Maintain production log entries and inventory management processes.
  • Read and interpret production schedules.
  • Enter settings and oversee the control panel for the machine.
  • Conduct visual inspections on machine components to ensure they are working properly.
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality issues.
  • Establish priorities and organize daily work.
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Able to prioritize tasks effectively to manage time in order to be proficient with all material handling and packaging devices.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

What you'll bring:



  • Minimum educational requirement is high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
  • Safety Toe Shoes required


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete any required training.
  • Have developed relationships within the department.
  • Be well-versed in priorities and the importance of your role to daily operations.
