We're seeking a self-motivated professional with technical and analytical skills to join our Payroll team. At Sentry, we care about delivering long-term results. This team works with our business units, internal and external stakeholders, vendors and government agencies during the processing and completion of the payroll cycle. The Payroll Analyst will be involved in all aspects of payroll processing. We are looking for a candidate with strong communication and analytical skills that can utilize their payroll experience within Sentry's system.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare, support, and ensure accurate processing of and recording of company payroll.
  • Research, analyze, and retrieve data to prepare and maintain complex payroll records, summaries, and reports.
  • Makes recommendations and assists in the review or development of reports, procedures, processes and controls.
  • Works on the configuration, integration and testing of payroll related systems and software. Including close collaboration with internal technology resources and external consultants.
  • Assist with annual account reconciliations and other payroll controls such as balancing payroll results to payroll tax returns and to year-end Form W-2 statements.
  • Analyzes multi-state payroll tax data and performs calculations, ensuring that payroll information is reported to Federal, state, and local agencies as may be required.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are authorized and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Analyze and prepare month-end and year-end activities such as payment summary reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and audit support.
  • Work closely with and communicates payroll matters with HR and Finance teams, employees or managers.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protects operations by keeping payroll information confidential.

What it Takes

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience as a Payroll Analyst, Payroll Specialist, etc.
  • Maturity and discretion in handling highly confidential information.
  • Moderate experience within a payroll function or related operational experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll rules and tax regulations of a multi-corporate and multi-state environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to leverage financial skills to record and analyze financial transactions and balances.
  • Ability to listen effectively and convey ideas through various forms of communication including written and verbal.
  • Applied knowledge of PC-based business software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Experience with Workday, ADP and/or Ceridian highly beneficial.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and productivity percentages.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
