The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) will work as a member of the UVA Health Family Medicine health care team, providing behavioral health services to patients in an ambulatory clinic utilizing an integrated behavioral health model of care. The BHC operates in a consultative role within the primary care team, providing recommendations regarding behavioral interventions to the referring primary care provider and conducting focused interventions with referred patients on behalf of the referring primary care provider. The BHC provides triage assessment, diagnostic and developmental evaluations, brief treatment (individual, couple or group therapy), referral assistance, crisis intervention, mental health screenings and day on-call crisis services. The position may also provide supervision and some outreach programming. Eagerness to work as part of a team and have the ability to be flexible in matching schedules with the primary care teams is a must. Prior experience with treating common behavioral health conditions and addressing mental health concerns across the lifespan is preferred.
Licensed positions that can occupy the Behavioral Health Consultant role include Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Professional Counselor. Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited social work program or a Master's degree in Counseling from a CACREP or CORE accredited counseling program required. Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia (LCSW, LPC) or applicants with an active license from another state must obtain Virginia licensure within [insert time] months of hire date."
