SUMMARY The position is responsible for collecting and applying the information generated in multiple databases and MS Office applications into actionable insight across multiple systems related to Commercial Marine. The successful applicant must be able to interpret and apply marine contract terms and concepts into quantifiable models to assess the commercial impact of their findings internally and to the appropriate business units. This will be on a regular time schedule and on an ad/hoc basis. The position will require the candidate to reach across business lines and be comfortable working with multiple different departments to collaborate and solve issues as they arise. Additional corporate development projects will be assigned and scaled to the capability and capacity of the individual. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: Operational:
Help the commercial and shipping team members define, measure and quantify different courses of action so as to model alternatives for least cost, expediency or overall system impact with the guidance of the Senior Logistics Analyst Assist with fleet sizing discussions based on business unit needs and prepare routine reports for production site discussion with shipping team members. Work with team to:
Ensure shipment billing is recorded internally and processed for payment Internal voyage details are updated to ensure consistent metrics and their application. Develop reports for different business unit needs from a commercial and operational marine perspective.
Systems
Engage with other stakeholders to ensure COPA data is updated and applied consistently Help team move to a post-spreadsheet world by maintaining training on SAP, Veson (Marine TMS), power BI and other systems as needed.
Commercial:
Contract Administration Analysis: Analyzing contract terms, performance, and compliance to identify areas for improvement and ensure efficient contract management. Document Routing Analysis: Tracking document flow and ensuring complete approval via DOA Invoice Tracking and Verification Analysis: Monitoring invoice accuracy, timeliness, and discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting and vendor management. Database Metrics Analysis: Analyzing data in the marine database to track key metrics such as vessel performance, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and operational efficiency. Monthly Reporting Analysis: Reviewing and analyzing data for monthly reporting to USACE, various state, and federal agencies to ensure compliance and provide insights for decision-making. Presentation Deck Preparation Analysis: Analyzing data and preparing presentation decks with Senior Logistics Analyst to provide insights on turn times, fleet utilization, pricing of products, terminal supply, and variance analysis. Business Process Improvement Analysis: Identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the logistics and supply chain operations. Segment-Specific Analysis: Applying analytical methods tailored to each segment, such as inland barge, export tankers, domestic tankers, containers, and shoreside tank segments, to address unique challenges and opportunities within each market. Process Mindset: Successful candidate must continuously be evaluating and improving processes related to inland barge, export tankers, domestic tankers, containers, and shoreside tank segments to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. / B.A. Degree (Logistics, Business, Engineering, or IS/IT preferred); 1-3 years' experience in marine operations or similar experience in logistic and supply chain. Must have extensive computer skills with emphasis in database systems (e.g SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite of products. Marine Database experience (Dataloy / Veson) is a plus This role requires a process mindset with a proficiency in understanding standard Marine Charter terminology. Independent thinking, attention to detail, problem solving, and team contribution are necessary for the candidates success. Candidate must be intrinsically motivated with an ability to maintain focus given the detail oriented nature of the work

WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
