The Team:The American Girl Retail team is integral in providing lifetime memories to American Girl fans and their families. Our experiential retail stores provide shopping destinations like no other. This requires Innovation, Collaboration, and Execution from all who are a part of this division. Our in-store experiences range depending on location from Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations to name a few. Expect a dynamic and fast-paced role where you get to make decisions that impact the team as well as our customers.

The Opportunity:The Sr. Community & Event Coordinator is located at the AG Retail Flagship Chicago location and reports directly to the Sr. Department Manager. This position is responsible for delivering all aspects of our premium experiences and events. This position will be working one-on-one with guests to create a magical event through superior communication and organization according to AG specifications.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Manage and lead all aspects of the planning, coordination, and communication for private and large group parties and sales, store events, excursions, community and hotel partnerships for their location.
  • Research and solicit group prospects and partnerships within the community for internal and external store events.
  • Support Sr. Dept. Manager to plan/execute event and assigns roles and responsibilities with the AG store teams. Resolve any customer service issues and lead event execution team to do the same.
  • Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure each event is executed with excellence.
  • Support and assist in store events and provide support to other team members on planning of storewide projects.
  • Process all paperwork including contracts.
  • Work alongside the Leadership Team on all company events, launches, and event initiatives.
  • Participate and support key retail teams to provide merchandise displays and manage inventory for events.
  • Provide feedback for all events/programs to determine effectiveness in achieving retail marketing goals provide recommendations and feedback. Assist with researching, recommending, and implementing new events/programs.
  • Meet sales goals and budgetary guidelines. Work with external vendors and place product orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing an exceptional events and excursions and oversee resolution of customer service issues and requests in a gracious manner.
  • Execute events to AG standards, including games, crafts, hair styling, and skin care of dolls.
  • Assist as needed with the retail side of business including Retail Sales, Customer Service, Doll Hair/Salon, Programs/Events, and Personal Shopping.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3-5 years of work experience in customer relations, parties or events.
  • Must enjoy public speaking, children, and possess a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • High energy, experience in a fast-paced service environment with a passion for quality.
  • Organizational skills, inventory management, flexibility and corporate relationship skills are required.
  • Experience working with children, preferred.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and organizational skills are essential.
  • Well-developed computer skills are essential; must be a skilled user of Microsoft Software (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
