What you'll do

The Senior Global Payroll Operations Manager will lead and oversee global payroll operations across multiple countries, ensuring seamless, compliant, and timely payroll processing for a large, multinational organization. This role will lead the US and global payroll team, collaborate with internal partners, and work closely with external vendors to standardize processes, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance with local and international payroll regulations. The Senior Manager will also spearhead global payroll projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and operational strategies to scale payroll operations as the organization grows.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Director, Payroll.

Responsibility

  • Lead global payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees across multiple regions
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor laws
  • Drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of standardized global payroll processes, policies, and controls
  • Lead the global payroll team, providing leadership, mentorship, and support to regional payroll managers
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, and external payroll vendors to align payroll operations with business goals
  • Be responsible for payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring successful deployment and minimal disruption to payroll activities
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies proactively, ensuring timely resolution of employee inquiries and escalations
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate important payroll performance data and metrics to senior leadership
  • Lead year-end payroll activities, including tax filings, audits, and compliance reviews
  • Partner with internal audit teams to conduct regular payroll audits and ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery and exploring opportunities for vendor consolidation or outsourcing where applicable
  • Stay updated on global payroll trends, laws, and best practices, advising leadership on potential risks and opportunities
  • Provide strategic direction for payroll-related initiatives to support business growth and improve service delivery

Job Designation

Remote: Employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and works from a designated remote work location for the majority of the time.

Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. What you bring

Basic

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in payroll operations
  • 5+ years in a global payroll leadership role
  • Experience working with global payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle)
  • Experience in managing payroll compliance for large multinational organizations
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PC
  • Experience with Google Workspace

Preferred

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification
  • Extensive experience in global payroll management, with a consistent track record of handling multi-country payroll operations
  • In-depth knowledge of international payroll compliance, regulations, and tax laws
  • Experience leading payroll system implementations, integrations, and upgrades, with strong project management skills
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading remote and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to streamline payroll processes and drive operational improvements in large, complex organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze payroll data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, including third-party payroll providers and consultants
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion
  • Strong understanding of payroll technology, including platforms such as ADP, Workday, SAP, or Oracle
  • Experience using MS Excel for a variety of uses

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $134,900.00 - $216,975.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $129,000.00 - $182,250.00 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $129,000.00 - $190,550.00 base salary

Washington DC: $134,900.00 - $190,550.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
