Job Description

I. Purpose

Shrink wrap full pallets to prepare for shipping to vendor.

II. Duties

Stretch Wrap Operator:

Task 1: Gather supplies/Set-up shrink wrap rolls

  • Collect (4) corner boards to match pallet, dimensions: 5.5" wide 0.5 pounds. If no sizes are available, will have to cut 4 corners from 33.5" x 5.5" x 48" board.
  • Carry pallet 5-15 feet to staging area.
  • Replace shrink wrap roll on machine approximately once per day, 20" roll, 9.5" diameter, 40 pounds. Load onto spindle of LanTech Q-300 machine, spindle height at 5 feet. Rolls are kept at 27-33" high in storage area.
  • Replace dust cover roll on Shrink wrap stand as needed, approx. twice a week, utilizing a forklift. The roll is a 60" length roll and the spindle height is 36."

Task 2: Computer Work

  • Computer work station is equipped with a stool and anti-fatigue floor padding.
  • Keyboard and mouse are kept at 32" height.
  • Monitor height is 40." The monitor and keyboard are all on the same height table.
  • Video Display Terminal is 18" from worker
  • Use hand scanner to scan pallet and Kronos card.
  • Print out label.

Task 3: Shrink wrap pallets

  • Transport pallet to Wrapper Plate using a pallet-jack. The distance is 20 feet so that the pallet can be scanned.
  • Check the carton count and print pallet label from the pallet information that appears on the computer monitor.
  • Cover the top of the pallet with dust cover from 60" roll on stand with the shrink wrap coating the sides. Place a piece of the cover under one of the first layer of boxes on the near side in order to hold it in place.
  • Start LanTech Q-300 machine with thumb and palm controls located at a height of 33-57" high. Thumb controls require 5 pounds of force to push. This will cause the pallet to spin so that the next step can be applied.
  • Place corner boards on corner edges of pallet as it turns on the Wrapper plate.
  • Cover all areas of pallet with shrink wrap. The wrapper plate will automatically stop when completed
  • Apply labels to the front of the pallet and a label on each of the four sides of the pallet.
  • Use pallet jack to transport wrapped pallet to pick up area (which is 20 feet from the Wrapper Plate) and/or use forklift to transport to warehouse location as required.

Task 4: Clean-up work area

  • Use push broom and dust pan to clean up work area.

Shipper:

Task 1: Forklift Operator Duties

  • Transport wrapped pallets to locations in the warehouse.
  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Operate forklift by using both hand and foot controls with an 18" step from the ground to a second 10" step to seat which is positioned at 20" high. Hand controls are located at 31-36" high from seat height.
  • Do a safety inspection of forklift, daily, at start of shift
  • Must do daily paperwork. Record products and weights of items picked up.
  • Scan orders to ship to determine where the product pallets are located in the warehouse.
  • Locate the pallet in the warehouse. Remove pallet from rack and move to an empty pallet as many cartons are required per the Notice to Ship.
  • Take product for shipment to scale for weight and record the pertinent information on the Notice to Ship paperwork. Wrap, if necessary, and place pallet label and address labels on shipment.
  • Place pallets in a stage location and write the stage location on the notice to ship. (Date must also be written on the pallet.)
  • Turn in the completed Notice to Ship Paper to the Shipping Office.
  • Take a new Notice to Ship from the ledge outside of the Shipping Office and begin the process again.

Task 2: Load Trucks

  • Retrieve packing lists for loading information.
  • Locate the pallets listed on the packing list.
  • Inspect trailer and fill out an inspection report.
  • Inspect the pallet on all four sides before loading.
  • Secure the trailer to the dock and raise the plate into the trailer.
  • Load pallets on to the trailer.
  • Place packing list into a Pack-a-lope and affix the Pack-a-lope to the side of the final pallet.

III. Knowledge

1.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

On the job training will be provided by the Company.

V. Contacts

1.

Daily contact with Bag Department "Pit" Employees, Forklift Drivers, Shipping Office personnel, various production employees and crew leaders throughout other departments.

2.

Daily contact with outside truck drivers.

V. Responsibility

  • Safety is top priority.
  • Loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Orders are scanned correctly and shipped.
  • Maintain AIB compliance at all times.
  • Comply with all AIB, Safety, and Company policies.
  • Participate and attend on-site employee meetings.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Be willing to work all shifts, which include weekends.
  • Willing to work overtime as need arises.
