Professional Development Specialist, KCCTO

About This Role:

The Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO) team, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is looking to hire a Professional Development Specialist who will work on a statewide professional development program in the area of childcare and education, focusing on individuals and programs serving birth to 13 years. This position will primarily be responsible for facilitating online training using a learning management system and virtual training using video conferencing software. This position will also provide virtual technical assistance, including coaching, consultation, mentoring, and facilitation of peer-to-peer learning opportunities. This may include developing written training plans and/or Individualized Professional Development Plans (IPDP) and providing specialized technical assistance to support individuals obtaining a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. A limited amount of training and technical assistance may be facilitated in person.

Additional responsibilities include carrying out program activities, developing and contributing to new courses, collaborating with internal and external partners to promote the program, and informing the development of statewide and internal systems to support the early childhood care and education field.

This is a part-time, benefits eligible position. The selected candidate will be expected to work approximately 20 hours per week.

Worksite Options:

This position is eligible for a hybrid and/orremote worksite, but candidates are required to be located within Kansas. Work may be performed on employer premises, designated assignment location and/or performed fully in a remote capacity.An employee who is working remotely must reside within the United States in order to comply with all federal and state laws, filings, or tax requirements.

Some in-state travel may be required with possible out of state travel related to attendance at educational events for personal skill and professional development. Working some evenings and weekends may be necessary. Staff may be required to attend meetings to represent the project.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in early childhood education or child development
• One year of experience developing written materials (i.e., technical assistance plans, IPDPs)
• Two years of experience coaching other adults/professionals (i.e., mentor coaching, peer-to-peer coaching, supervising)
• Three years of experience managing multiple tasks/projects
• Three years of experience with young children in early care and/or school-age care settings
• Documented experience successfully providing teaching/in-service training and technical assistance to adult learners
• Five years of experience working with children ages 0-13
• Experience working with electronic and online databases
• Experience with data analysis (quantitative or qualitative)
• Documented experience with public speaking and/or online instruction (i.e., conference presentations, training workshops, teaching at in-service or preservice level)
• Experience working with specialized populations (i.e., early intervention/special education, language/literacy, family childcare, school-age childcare, social/emotional development, infant mental health, unserved or underserved populations) and their families
• Bilingual
