Job Description

The Opportunity

Multiscale Advection Diffusion Analysis Laboratory (MADAL) is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the area of thermos-fluids modeling based on the Boltzmann equation. This position will directly support a funded project that develops a finite volume discrete Boltzmann model for the thermos-fluids transport phenomena in porous media. Core responsibilities include:

  • Code development and maintenance.
  • Generation and dissemination of journal and conference papers.
  • Proposal development and writing.

About the Lab:

MADAL, led by Prof. Leitao Chen in the Mechanical Engineering department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University specializes in the development and application of computational models for thermo-fluids transport processes that feature multi-scale and multi-physics phenomena for a wide range of applications, including energy systems (including renewables), thermal management, oil and gas recovery, plasma physics, and biofluids.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
  • Successful publication records in thermos-fluids area.
  • Expertise in model development using lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), discrete Boltzmann method (DBM), and other kinetic models.
  • Solid knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in thermos-fluids in porous media.
  • Experience in High-Performance Computing (HPC) on CPU or GPU platforms.
  • Experience in mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.

Application process/requirements

Review of applications will begin 10/1/2024 and will continue until the position is filled. For questions or concerns regarding the application process, please contact Dr. Leitao Chen at leitao.chen@erau.edu.
