Acara Solutions has been providing staffing industry services to aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms throughout the country for 65 years. Our national/international aerospace power electronics customer has a new salaried direct opening for an Electrical Engineering Manager with Power Electronics experience. The position is located in the tourist beach town of Ft. Walton, FL and it's mainly onsite. 9/80 schedule. They also have an opening for a power conversion electrical engineer.
This is a senior level position for a candidate that has a power electronics/analog background (ideally high power experience of 600V DC input). This is new onsite position within a 10 electrical engineering person team. The position requires employee management experience.
The Engineering Manager for the Power Electronics electrical design group manages engineering design and sustaining activities and implements and maintains engineering objectives and initiatives. This role manages resources involved power electronics hardware, software, and systems engineering for the creation and improvement of products. Products are required to provide high efficiency, high power density conversion of AC and DC power sources to power required by loads for a variety of defense applications with power requirements from < 100W to > 1 MW. Will perform a variety of tasks, and lead and direct the work of others. The power electronics design engineering manager will contribute at the highest level to technology development, new product development, new product introduction, and to customer interface on new business, development programs, and R&T initiatives.
Duties:
  • Provide leadership and management for power electronics product development and sustaining programs and activities
  • Provide technical review, guidance, and oversight of new product development, R&T projects, and production sustaining issues for power electronics products.
  • Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of design activities
  • Plan and manage the deployment of resources for multiple projects
  • Establish and monitor department budgets
  • Encourage and provide opportunity for continued relevant technical training
  • Review and set up optimized work flow
  • Establish and maintain design guidelines and design processes
  • Provide the appropriate skill mix to sustain and grow the business and to meet customer requirements
  • Provide interface and direct/indirect support to outside suppliers, 3rd party development activities, and customer product integration
  • Develop, enhance and maintain a core team as well as an external network of consultants, contractors and suppliers to support product development
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
BSEE or similar field (Master's or PhD preferred)
Min 10 years of related power electronics experience along with relevant standards
- This experience should include strong knowledge of power electronics design, ideally for multi-kilowatt military / harsh environment power conversion applications and/or automotive vehicle electrification, demonstrated through peer review, publications, patents, and/or a track record of successful new products or technology applied to products.
- This experience should include analog and ideally high power (600V DC input).
10% - 20% travel to customers or industry events
This position may require a U.S. government clearance or access to Controlled Data or Classified Information. Candidates must be eligible to obtain such clearance.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Experience managing/leading staff.
Vehicle electrification background with firms like John Deer, Caterpillar, or military
